What should I expect?
- Therapy is done in real-time on Zoom's professional HIPPA complaint Telehealth platform. That means that your child and the therapist will be able to see and hear each other just as if they were meeting in-person.
- All of our therapists specialize in working with your children, so they will create a unique session tailored to your child. During these sessions, they will utilize fun, interactive age-appropriate activities to work on your child's goals.
- This is an exciting opportunity for you to be directly involved and learn new skills during each and every session. Your therapists will provide you with tips and guidance along the way and you will begin to see new ways to develop your child's skills through at-home activities and play.
- The length of the session can vary depending on your child’s age and skills needed, as well as what works for your family’s schedule. Generally, sessions are either 30 or 45 minutes in length.
What do I need?
- The internet connection at the location you connect from will need to be 600 kbps minimally, but 1.2 mbps and up is preferred for HD video. You can test your upload and download speed by running a test from the SPEEDTEST site.
- You may use a compatible desktop or laptop with a working camera, speakers, and microphone
- You may use a compatible tablet or smartphone.
No matter which device you choose, the Zoom platform is very intuitive. We recommend that you test your device from your location using Zoom's simple Test Meeting using the link below...
Things to Consider
- An adult must be present and available to assist during the session.
- You must ensure there is a stable way to point and hold your connected device in place.
- Place the connected device in a place where you and your child can be easily visible to your therapist and ensure your child can see your therapist.
- Some visits may require more room from which your child can do activities.
- Your therapist may contact you before the session (or provide instructions at the end of a current session) to arrange for having some worksheet(s) printed or gather items from around the house ready to use for some activities.
- Be mindful of your therapists time. Login a few minutes before your session so that your session may begin on time.
- It is best if siblings are occupied with other adults or activities in other rooms of the house during the session. Please let your therapist know if this is not a possibility as they may be able to occasionally incorporate siblings into a session if needed. Otherwise, we may need to re-schedule the session to another time in order to create the best opportunity for success.
